Craig Hope has reported in the Daily Mail’s Newcastle Confidential that the Magpies’ long-anticipated stadium announcement remains stalled with no new timetable in sight.
Hope noted that the previously
planned “early 2025” reveal has “come and gone” and added that “there won’t be one in late 2025 either.”
The insider reported that after a high-level meeting at Matfen Hall earlier this year, “all roads led to building a new stadium on Leazes Park,” with a video presentation shown internally outlining how such a project would look.
However, Hope reported that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund “has yet to sanction that move and, as such, it means a formal decision has yet to be made.”
Hope added that “there is, I’m told, a lot of work going on in the background,” but confirmed that “there has been no fresh indication of when an announcement will be.”
Hope wrote that he expects “word on a new training ground to come before then, and that will likely be in 2026,” reinforcing the view that stadium clarity is still distant.
