Glad I didn’t watch this one live.
Game Recap in Three Sentences
It was a rough game on the ground as BC totaled nearly 400 rushing yards, mostly by just running the same play over and over again.
Turnovers doomed an otherwise-okay-ish offensive performance from Tech.
A halftime lead of one point quickly evaporated as Tech allowed BC to score on all of its real second half possessions (including touchdowns on all but one).
Above The Line of the Week
- Grady Adamson. This was his first extended game action and he went a solid 7/9 for 73 yards and a score. Yikes that this is pretty much the only individual performance worth calling out this week.
- The National Air and Space Museum. Planes and rockets are sick.
- Cooler weather.
Fourth Quarter of the Week
24 points??? Are we serious? That’s how many points a self-respecting P4 team scores against an FCS team in a quarter,
not how many they should be giving up to maybe the worst team in their conference. By the way, BC only scored 22 points in their entire GAME against MAINE. Embarrassing.

After Saturday I’m left with one nagging, depressing question: what’s the path forward from here?
The 2026 season is toast. We are heavy underdogs in every remaining game; according to ESPN our highest chance to win is 22% vs Clemson (lol imagine telling that to someone a few years ago). It’s entirely possible (and probably even likely) we finish at 2-10 and a cosmic certainty we finish no better than 4-8. What happens next? Justice Haynes is gone (not that it matters anyways, we might as well have stuck a walk-on behind this OL), along with probably every other major contributor. There’s certainly going to be staff turnover and severely depressed recruiting as well so we’ll be starting over for the second year in a row. Support and funding will dry up as well, and we’ll be a tough sell to any half-decent transfer prospects. Oh and guess what: the 2027 schedule is going to be much harder. It’s obviously early but I don’t really see how we can win more than 4-5 games next year.
That number would suck in any season but the bigger looming problem is that I think Key needs more like 8-9 wins to save his job and still be coaching in 2028. Sure a lot could change between now and then, it is college football after all, but I’d still bet my bank account that that’s far too tall of an order. There’s simply no advantage or difference-maker or it-factor that he brings to the table to overcome the direction we’re heading in. Maybe there are valid reasons to not fire him right now but as far as I’m concerned the writing is on the wall – I don’t see a path for him to recover from this. So not only will we be starting over in 2027, we’ll probably be starting over in 2028 as well and we might see the heat death of the universe before someone actually “turns around” Georgia Tech football. Oh and so help me God if we go 4-8 in 2027 and he’s still the coach in 2028.
I’m exhausted and cranky writing this in the airport after two straight weeks of traveling so I don’t really feel like digging into what all I think has gone wrong; we can save those few thousand words for later. Suffice it to say that I don’t think Key is the guy to turn this thing around right now. We’re just gonna be watching him slowly approach the inevitable. Back in 2022 I laid out an argument for why he shouldn’t get the job, and every single point is still applicable here in 2026 – nothing has changed. He’ll always be better than Collins, but it’s looking more and more like Haynes King deserves all the credit for that.
Look Ahead
Up next is Pitt (10/31, 7:30pm). Whatever man. They’ll probably comfortably win by multiple scores, just sim me to the end of the season.
