Oregon went south this weekend and took on the Fairleigh Dickinson University (a private non-profit based in New Jersey but with affiliate campuses in both Vancouver, BC and England) Knights on Saturday. Kate Shields started in the net and made four saves while giving up only a single goal in the first half. An offensive explosion led by multiple goals from Lexi Jenkins, Liv Kozitza, and Anna Simmons gave the Ducks a commanding lead going into halftime. A far cry from the tense match with Arizona
State last week, Oregon reorganized at halftime to spread out playing time for the entire roster.
Francesca Viteritti replaced shields in the net to start the second half and three Oregon players scored for the first time this season while Kozitza finished a hat trick. FDU did get back on the board but at 14-2 to start the fourth quarter both sides began emptying their benches. Freshman Kaley Gunning played goalie to finish out the game while Lilly Fortin scored twice in the final period.
