Robert Lewandowski played his final game as a Barcelona player at Camp Nou on Sunday night as Hansi Flick’s side beat Real Betis 3-1.
The victory means Barca make history by becoming the first La Liga team to win all their home matches in a 38-game season in a perfect send-off for Lewandowski.
The Poland international addressed the crowd after the final whistle and spoke about his love for the club.
“For me, this is a very emotional and very difficult day. When I arrived at Barcelona, I knew this club
was great, but because of your affection, it has been incredible,” he said.
“From the first day, I felt at home in Barcelona and on this pitch. I will never forget when you chanted my name. Thank you to my teammates, the coaches, and everyone who works at this club. It has been an honor to play for this club.
“We’ve experienced some great moments in these four years. I’m very proud of everything we’ve done together. Today I say goodbye to the stadium, but I’ll always carry Barcelona in my heart. Thank you so much, fans, once a Culer fan, always a Culer.
“Thank you very much, long live Barça and long live Catalonia.”
Barcelona will now wrap up their season next weekend against Valencia which will be Lewandowski’s last game for the club before he says goodbye for a final time.
