Saturday is for the safeties.
Arizona has picked up its second player at that position from the NCAA transfer portal on Saturday, getting a commitment from former Northern Colorado safety Cam Chapa. His pledge comes on the heels of a commitment from ex-Nebraska safety Malcolm Hartzog Jr.
The 6-foot-1, 193-pound Chapa comes to the UA with two seasons of eligibility remaining. He started all 23 games he played at Northern Colorado at free safety, recording 171 tackles and eight interceptions, and in 2025
he led the Big Sky Conference with 63 solo tackles.
In two career games against FBS opponents, both at Colorado State, Chapa had 18 total tackles and allowed one catch for one yard.
Chapa is the third defensive back Arizona has added from the transfer portal, and it needs as many as it can get with all five starters gone from the secondary. All told the Wildcats have picked up five defensive transfers, part of 11 total portal additions.
