Liverpool Women have quietly been getting the work done this transfer season. After securing the signatures of Sara Agrez and Vivian Endemann earlier this summer, another new player has joined the Red Women, as the club announced on Thursday.
Full back Mari Ward joined Liverpool Women upon the end of her contract with Bristol City and will join the squad in pre-season to prepare for the campaign ahead.
“I’m so excited. Liverpool is such a huge club with such a big history,” Ward told the club website
alongside the announcement.
“So, to be a Liverpool player now is really special.
“I can’t wait to put on the Liverpool shirt for the first time. It’s going to be so special. And to walk out as a Liverpool player, it’s still unreal to even think about it. I can’t wait for that moment.”
A product of Bristol City’s youth academy, she made her senior debut for Plymouth Argyle back in 2022 and scored 3 goals in 10 appearances before returning to Bristol.
Ward mainly played on the left side during the 2025-26 season, but has experience on the right, and comes with load of senior experience despite only being 20 years old. She started 21 of Bristol’s 22 matches last season in the WSL 2 and helped them secure a fourth place finish in the league.
An English international, Ward has caps for England starting at the U17 levels, all the way to U20, and made her debut for U23 in October 2025.
As for her position in the squad? Mari said, “I’d say I’m an attacking full-back that likes to get forward and get back, and likes to create and join in attacking.”
It looks like Gareth Taylor is looking for a more pressing squad next season and here’s hoping it works out.
