Barcelona suffered an injury blow in the first half of their La Liga opener against Elche as midfielder Gavi was forced off with a problem.
Gavi started the game in midfield alongside Marc Bernal and Fermin Lopez but didn’t even make it to half-time after picking up an injury.
The Spain star went down holding his right leg but it wasn’t completely clear what type of injury he had suffered. Obviously given his history, it’s hoped that he hasn’t sustained another knee problem.
Hansi Flick sent Pedri on his place and saw his Barcelona team make it 2-0 just before half-time. Raphinha had opened the scoring from the penalty spot and then teed up Karim Adeyemi to score his first La Liga goal for his new club.
It’s a good start to the game for Barcelona but we’ll have to wait and see what the news is on Gavi. Hopefully, it’s just a knock and he will not be out of action for long.
