One has to expect that Danny Röhl had no idea what would happen when he joined Bayern Munich alongside Hansi Flick as fellow assistant coaches to then-head coach Niko Kovač. Röhl had earned the role over many years of solid work at Rasenballsport Leipzig, before following Ralph Hassenhüttl to Southampton in 2018 and eventually ending up in Munich in 2019.
Any and every Bayern fan knows how the story went. Kovač was sacked, Flick took over and he, alongside a coaching staff that included Röhl, led
the Bavarians to a historic sextuple. However, some big disagreements saw Flick grow dissatisfied in Munich and leave for the Germany job. Röhl follow Flick out the door to Germany, but their paths would split when Flick was sacked by the German football federation.
First Röhl managed Sheffield Wednesday from 2023 to 2025 and Rangers from 2025 to 2026. Red Bull’s second club, RB Salzburg, had seen enough and swooped in to land the 37-year-old German, as confirmed by the club’s official website.
The Red Bull club have signed Röhl to a 3 year contract.
