Sean McVay reports the NFL told him that the pass interference call against Josh Wallace on Sunday night football against the Denver Broncos shouldn’t have been called. Simple as that. Except it was called, and the Rams basically sit at 1-2 instead of 2-1 because of it.
Well, that call, a blown 16-point lead and some other mistakes so to speak caused the 1-2 mark, but don’t get hung up on the details.
What matters is trying to win the next game. That’s the NFL. Whatever your record is, just win the next game.
The Rams didn’t do that last Sunday. Everyone will see how they do this Sunday.
NFL Delivers Unfortunate Reality Check for Los Angeles Rams (heavy.com)
“It is a call that Denver Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant, with whom Wallace was accused of interfering, said certainly occurred, but also admitted that he sold “just enough” to give his side the best opportunity to secure a flag.
It worked, but it should not have, according to the league and Rams head coach Sean McVay.
“McVay said the NFL told him that Josh Wallace should not have been flagged for pass interference,” The Athletic’s Nate Atkins posted on X on September 30.“
NFL admits Rams shouldn’t have been called for DPI vs. Broncos (ramswire)
“McVay was visibly upset on the broadcast, seemingly saying, “You can’t call that.” NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay sided with the defense, saying he didn’t think Wallace’s contact warranted a flag. Bryant later admitted he helped the call along. “I did sell it just enough,” he said, though he added that Wallace gave him “a little nudge.”
No one’s coming to rescue the Rams, so they’ll have to help themselves (starting now) (ramblifan)
“Some well-meaning folks are trying to prop up fans’ hopes. But it could just have the opposite effect. Rather than rally Rams fans, it motivates future foes to stop the hype. And at 1-2, the Horns do not need already tough opponents circling their calendars.
Lossesneed not be glossed over, nor should they be. NFL athletes are not fans of being anointed. True competitors want to earn their success, respect, and accompanying accolades. So no, neither players nor coaches need to soften the blow. Losing should hurt. It’s that pain that drives elite players to higher heights.
Finding groove will take time, but Rams must begin trending in right direction
The Rams have no choice but to focus on their next opponent on a week-by-week basis. Their record now won’t matter if they finish at 15-2.“
Rams star Puka Nacua expected to return vs Eagles (byucougarwire)
“That is back-to-back games that Nacua has missed. He also sat out the game against the New York Giants.
Fantasy football owners and Rams fans have a reason to rejoice. Head coach Sean McVay has good news about Nacua’s status for this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Nacua returned to practice on Wednesday with an injury designation of “limited,” but McVay expects his star wide receiver to play against the Eagles this week.“
Film Room: How Zach Allen Turned the Tide vs. Rams (si.com)
“Allen has been on the outside of the discussion among Denver’s defensive playmakers for a few seasons now, despite his production and accolades. Pat Surtain II has already won Defensive Player of the Year, and Nik Bonitto is one of the best edge rushers in the league. They get a lot of attention, and understandably so.
What doesn’t make sense is how little attention Allen gets on a national stage as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the game. He was a one-man wrecking crew against the Rams.
Despite a nondescript start, Allen led the team with seven total pressures, three quarterback hits, and a sack. What he did in the second half should be plastered across the media landscape, as he spearheaded a pressure package that got to and rattled Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford at will.“
Puka Nacua’s Rams Return Comes Just in Time for Eagles Showdown (sports.yahoo)
“Nacua was still listed as limited in practice Wednesday, September 30th, though head coach Sean McVay said Nacua is expected to play.
Why the Rams are bringing Nacua back
Rather than play him through some discomfort, the Rams opted to sit Nacua and give him time to heal, since the season is still very young.“
Rams Need More From Linebacker Nate Landman Amid Concerning Decline (sports.yahoo)
“Landman on a one-year deal for $11 million was great value. Since signing his extension, Landman’s level of play has dropped off significantly and has been much closer to what it was throughout his career with the Atlanta Falcons.
Landman Hasn’t Sustained His Early Success
From Week 1 to Week 11 last year, Landman was PFF’s 20th-ranked linebacker and forced four fumbles. He had four games with 10 or more tackles and a missed tackle rate of just 10.2 percent. From Week 12 until the end of the season, he was PFF’s 33rd-ranked linebacker and did not force a single fumble. He had three games with 10 or more tackles, two of which came in the playoffs, and had a 19.1 percent missed tackle rate.“
NFL Week 4 Betting Report: Books Being Flooded With Rams Money (foxsports)
“Here’s how you know that the NFL drives the American sports betting bus: Steelers vs. Browns, which is not exactly a marquee matchup, will still draw plenty of eyeballs and action from the public betting masses.
“The NFL is still king,” Caesars Sports head of football trading Joey Feazel said. “Even as much as we complain about some of these Thursday night games, it’s still the NFL. We’re still all watching, and it’ll still be bet on.”
Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles: How to watch, listen to and live stream Sunday Night Football Week 4 (therams.com)

Running back Kyren Williams had 94 rushing yards on 20 carries, and 18 receiving yards with a receiving touchdown. Defensively, four different players recorded a sack, including outside linebacker Byron Young who had six total tackles and three for loss. Brian Allen reflects on his draft call, winning Super Bowl LVI, blocking Aaron Donald & more | Rams Iconic (rams.com)
“D’Marco Farr sits down with former Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Brian Allen on this live episode of Rams Iconic. Watch him reflect on the 2018 NFL Draft, winning Super Bowl LVI, trying to block defensive end Aaron Donald & more.”
Comment of the Day:
“OBJ? Let’s see… he’s been a non-factor/cut for the last five years. Why in God’s name does anyone think he’d move the needle for the Rams?
Still pissed about that PI call… the soft-ass “hands to the face” call as well. Wallace made a great defensive play and the Rams had a 3rd down stop taken away.
Mumpfield does a decent job of getting separation, I think, but his hands have been horrible. Even that wide open TD was a three-bobble catch.
Rams NEED a win at Philly.“ -delusionalramfanslosteve
