The Missouri Tigers are warming up for the 2026 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, where three days of intense competition and championship-level performances await.
The meet is set to be held on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28 at Texas A&M’s Fasken Indoor Track & Field complex in College Station, Texas. With the SEC’s programs top ranked athletes set to race at the competition, it will be a stacked field.
The meet will air on SEC Network+, with coverage beginning at
11:30 a.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, and at 2 p.m. CT and 4 p.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday.
Day 1 of Events
Thursday will open the meet with combined events such as the men and women’s heptathlon, plus early track preliminaries and finals in the 200m and distance races. Hopefully, this will give Mizzou’s distance runners a chance to show-off their talent.
There will also be the distance medley races, along with field events such as pole vault and long jump. Competing for the Tigers, Anna Vedral and Anna Ferguson will be pole vaulting, while Brianna Utecht and Sofia Wydra will compete in multis events.
Day 2 of Events (Prelims)
Friday will feature running events such as the mile, 60m, 400m and 800m, along with 60m hurdles and the weight throw and high jump finals. Along with those events there will be heptathlon finals.
Marlena Tresnjo will make her appearance in the high jump for Mizzou. Alongside her, Robert Hines and Dillon Leacock are set to race during the sprints, and Garik Pozecki and Sam Innes will make an appearance for the men’s weight throw.
“I think that getting her fresh and ready for this level of competition, you know, the Tyson Invitational was kind of a tough reminder that there are other talented athletes out there, so we had a rough go, but now that we’ve gotten that out of our system, seeing these athletes and being able to step to the competitive level that we know she’s at practice has been going actually really well,” assistant jumps coach TJ Harris said.
Day 3 of Events (Finals)
The final day on Saturday will be Mizzou’s last push with events such as the mile, 60m, 400m, 800m, 60m hurdles, 200m, 3,000m and field events such as high jump, shot put and pole vault. Mizzou runners such as Monica Wanjiku, and Drew Rogers are sure to make an appearance.
Valentine and Tyson Invitational Remarks
Star athlete Monica Wanjiku who had an astonishing cross country season last year, has continued to capture the fans attention with a top-two program history record set in the 5000m race at the Valentine Invitational.
Senior Drew Rogers claimed a new school record in the 3000m for Mizzou, while Ryder James followed with a top-10 program record. Suzy Lecoutre made her mark with the fourth-best time in the mile for Mizzou’s program history. Her teammate Kobi Walker also claimed a top-10 mark during the same event. Morgan Yeoman followed in the mile with a top-10 program record.
“Coach Levermore does an outstanding job,” Harris said. “I think he’s one of the better distance coaches in the SEC. He does a really, really good job of managing their training, but getting them to the right place at the right time.”
During the Tyson Invitational, there were a lot of highs and top-50 spots for some of our athletes as Sam Innes placed No.10 in the men’s weight throw. Ames Burton claimed a season best for the women’s weight throw and Dillon Leacock claimed a top-10 program record in the 400m to top it off for the Tigers.
Thoughts on the SEC Championships
With the Arkansas Razorbacks having won the last 10 SEC Indoor titles for the women and the last five for the men, it will be interesting to see if they pull it off another year. Although, Mizzou plans on giving their all as Harris spoke on his expectations for the upcoming meet.
“What I’m looking forward to seeing is young people being okay with being the best versions of themselves,” Harris said. “They’re trained, they’re ready, but just, you know, being somewhat prideful and representing themselves in the University of Missouri at a high level.”
The Tigers will have to give it their all during the upcoming meet in hopes of making it to the NCAA Indoor Championships, on March 13-14.
