Freaky
in Fayetteville Shift
- Ole Miss-Oklahoma: John Mateer’s hand saw limited action but more or less seemed fine against South Carolina last week, throwing for 150 yards on 18 completions. If he’s fully healthy this weekend we could have a real shootout between him and Trinidad Chambliss.
- USF-Memphis: The Bulls meet their biggest G5 challenge remaining on their schedule this week when they head up to Memphis to play a Tigers team who tragically lost their first game of the season against the Dilfer-less UAB team. Regardless, both teams are very much in the running for the open G5 playoff spot.
- SMU-Wake Forest: Putting out the call now, this is a trap game for SMU. The CW comes for us all.
- Auburn-Arkansas: Bobby Petrino may get Hugh Freeze fired. That’s it, that’s the pitch.
Black and Gold Shift
- Missouri-Vanderbilt: SP+ is calling this a tossup between two Alabama victims, but honestly I think there’s some element of getting away with it for Mizzou, especially last week, while I think Vanderbilt might be about it. But we’ll see.
- Illinois-Washington: I don’t know how or why the best B1G game of the week ended up on the BTN but here we are. I’d expect this to be a tight one throughout.
- Alabama-South Carolina: The Gamecocks are staring down the barrel of losing three in a row and five of the last six. Oh and it doesn’t get any better with Ole Miss and Texas A&M later. So yeah, gotta have it.
- Texas-Mississippi State: I don’t want to issue a trap game warning immediately after Texas just got out of a trap game against Kentucky, but I will warn the Longhorns that they should proceed with extreme caution.
It Never Rains In Tiger Stadium* Shift
- Texas A&M-LSU: *groans loudly*
- Tennessee-Kentucky: Tennessee only being favored by a little more than a touchdown here should tell you all you need to know about the Vols but also about the Wildcats. Lexington after dark is scary.
- Houston-Arizona State: The Sun Devils upsetting Texas Tech last week has ripped the Big 12 Title Race wide open, and the Sun Devils are in prime position to establish a firm foothold in the race, but the Cougars are on quietly level terms with them heading into them, making this a huge game for the Big 12 Title.
- North Dakota State-South Dakota State: The FCS Game of the Season is this week, with both the Bison and Jackrabbits a perfect 7-0 and coming into this game a perfect 7-0. Honestly, pretty surprised GameDay isn’t here this week.
Robert Kekaula Memorial Shift
- Colorado-Utah: You know the rules.
