Jake Paul and Tank Davis are scheduled to clash in a boxing match on Nov. 14 from the Kaseya Center in Miami, but the results of the fight won’t count towards either fighter’s record.
That’s according to
the Florida Athletic Commission after confirming to MMA Fighting that Paul vs. Davis is being staged as an exhibition bout. Of course, the fight features a massive size difference between the athletes with Paul maintaining a huge size and weight advantage over Davis, who most recently competed in a bout at 135 pounds.
“The Florida Athletic Commission confirms that this event has been sanctioned as an exhibition,” commission officials told MMA Fighting. “The match will be logged in the national registry as an exhibition, and it will not count toward either athlete’s professional record.”
While the fight is taking place as an exhibition, the commission confirmed that there are going to be three judges scoring the bout — two professional judges and one AI judge — but again the results won’t actually count towards Paul or Davis’ record.
The fight takes place over 10, three-minute rounds with Paul and Davis wearing 12-ounce gloves.
No matter the result, it won’t actually count as a win or a loss but a knockout is possible, which would obviously stop the fight.
“The exhibition will classify knockouts and technical knockouts as fight-ending in the same manner as professional contests,” commission officials confirmed. “The Florida Athletic Commission remains committed to transparency, regulatory compliance, and the continued safe advancement of combative sports in Florida.”
Paul and Davis were originally expected to clash in Atlanta but the promoters behind the event actually pulled a request for licensing before the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission could vote to approve or disapprove the fight.
Now they’ll meet in Miami instead with the fight airing live globally on Netflix on Nov. 14.
