Players to watch in Week 9 matchup | Giants.com
When he isn’t pressured, Dart has put up some impressive numbers. He has completed 67.8 percent of his passes with four touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 101.4 passer
rating when not pressured, compared to a 46.2 completion percentage, four touchdowns, three interceptions and a 72.4 passer rating when he is pressured. Heading into Week 9, the 49ers have pressured opposing quarterbacks on only 25.9 percent of drop backs, the lowest rate in the NFL. In last week’s loss to the Texans, the 49ers allowed CJ Stroud to complete 30 of 39 passes for 318 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for a 106.6 passer rating.

Cam Skattebo, New York Giants — Because it just happened, we don’t really know what kind of impact the Skattebo injury will have on the Giants. It most likely doesn’t change much in terms of how this season is destined to end relative to their postseason hopes. But Skattebo’s entry to the league as a rugged fourth-rounder, his play style this season and his rookie partnership with Jaxson Dart made him endearing to the masses. The Giants aren’t a good team, but they’ve been fun to watch in recent weeks, and now they’ll be considerably less so without Skattebo.
Giants’ Jaxson Dart excited to work with ‘explosive’ WR Ray-Ray McCloud | SNY.tv
Dart and McCloudspent extra time together following Wednesday’s practice, first with other WRs and TEs, then with themselves. Dart said he’s liked what he’s seen.
“He’s explosive,” the rookie QB said. “I watched a lot of tape when I heard he was coming here. Following his career, seeing the reception numbers, how explosive he is with the ball in his hands and the run after catch — that’s the word to describe him. He’s a great worker and he’s around late, so I’m excited to have him.”
Dexter Lawrence rips Carl Banks for ‘delusional’ comments | ESPN.com
It took Lawrence and a lot of New York’s players by surprise that Banks, who is in the team facility on a fairly regular basis, chose his podcast as the platform to air the criticism.
“I mean, as an in-house guy, maybe it’s like a coded message where he’s trying to light a fire under Dex, you know what I mean?” middle linebacker Bobby Okereke said. “But for a guy who works in-house, it doesn’t take much to find a guy and have a conversation with him one-on-one or get his phone number and call him. So I don’t necessarily think there’s any ill intentions with it. Maybe he’s just trying to light a fire or in his own way motivate Dex. But Dex, like I said, is an incredible pro, and if anyone needs to be critical of his play, I think he’d be the first one to step up and do that if it’s necessary. So I think Dex is doing a great job, obviously incredible leader for us, inspires a lot of us and he’s going to keep being him.”

But Banks is standing by his comment, which was a jarring assessment to hear from someone who is employed by the team.
“I knew Dexter wasn’t happy with what I said,” Banks said on his podcast on Thursday. “If anything, I’m going to be consistent. On this platform, I defend those young men, I support those young men, and I fairly critique those young men … I own everything I say. And I don’t have tender feelings. So Dexter Lawrence’s response? I think it’s great. He’s a prideful man, and I would expect him to have the comment. He probably held back. He probably wanted to say more.”

2025 NFL trade deadline: Which teams should add, subtract? | ESPN.com
Should probably deal players for picks. Notable trade candidates: OT Evan Neal, CB Deonte Banks, QB Russell Wilson, Edge Kayvon Thibodeaux
Injuries and late collapses against the Cowboys and Broncos have sapped the Giants’ chances of competing on the fringes of the wild-card picture in the NFC. General manager Joe Schoen isn’t going to want to do anything that compromises Jaxson Dart’s development, but moving on from players who aren’t seeing many snaps on offense or former first-round picks who are going to be squeezed out on defense would make sense — especially if the Giants can add young players who would help them on offense.
Thibodeaux’s situation is probably the most interesting. The 2022 fifth pick has an 11.5-sack season to his name, and he is owed just $610,000 over the remainder of the season with a $14.8 million fifth-year option locked in for 2026. He’s still playing 73% of the snaps for the Giants, but their future on the edge is Abdul Carter and Brian Burns. Thibodeaux has been inconsistent, but talented young pass rushers with a year-plus of cost control at a very reasonable price don’t come available very often.
Buy, sell or hold: What should each NFL team do at the 2025 trade deadline? | PFF
New York Giants (2-6): Buy and sell Given their current record, the Giants are unlikely to make the playoffs this season, but with the future in mind, there are specific moves on both sides of the ball they should consider. Offensively, the receiving corps has been depleted with Malik Nabers out for the season. Considering the level of talent expected to be available at the deadline, the Giants would be wise to add a legitimate weapon — not only to support rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s development this season but also to pair long-term with Nabers upon his return. Rashid Shaheed of the Saints would be a particularly dangerous complement, adding the kind of vertical dynamism the roster currently lacks.
Defensively, edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux is on an expiring contract and is unlikely to be re-signed given the team’s financial commitments to Brian Burns and Abdul Carter. Thibodeaux is among the defenders expected to be available before Tuesday’s deadline and could bring back meaningful draft capital for April.

Joe Schoen’s Giants healthy scratch list for the Eagles loss was jarring | New York Daily News
The Giants’ healthy scratch list for their Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was a stunning indictment of GM Joe Schoen. The names included offensive lineman Evan Neal, Schoen’s No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft; wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, a 2023 third-round pick Schoen traded up to select; and offensive tackle James Hudson, Schoen’s priority offensive line free agent signing this past spring.
It is uncommon to pour that many assets into three players who don’t play when they’re healthy. And don’t forget Russell Wilson ($11 million), the fifth-highest cap hit on this year’s team, riding the bench when current emergency third QB Jameis Winston ($3 million) would have been perfectly capable of doing so — and has — for a lot less money.

There were dozens of texts waiting on his mother’s cell phone. Shocked reactions to seeing 5-year-old Giuseppe − dressed as Gizmo from the movie “Gremlins” − interacting with New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart – dressed as Superman – as part of a Halloween party for Tackle Kids Cancer at Joseph M. Kyle Shanahan on the 49ers rookies: ‘They’ve kind of exceeded expectations to tell you the truth’ | Niners Nation
For much of the season, the San Francisco 49ers have been in the top three when it comes to playing time for rookies. Nobody would have guessed that Connor Colby would have played the most snaps among all of the first-year players through eight weeks. And if you thought Marques Sigle would be second, you’re either a liar or a Kansas State alum.
The team is putting a lot on its first-round pick, Mykel Williams, who played a season-high in snaps against the Texans last week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he wishes the Niners could take some of the workload off Mykel’s plate.

3. Fred Warner, San Francisco 49ers: We could just rename this section for the 49ers, as big injuries have become somewhat of a sour tradition in San Francisco. But the 49ers have seemed to weather a lot of the key absences this season, with Jake Tonges filling in admirably for George Kittle, Mac Jones gritting his way through for Brock Purdy and Kendrick Bourne showing up in place of the team’s decimated wide receiver group. Even the Nick Bosa injury in Week 3 didn’t seem to derail the 49ers. But losing Bosa and Warner (Week 6) feels like one step too far. Robert Saleh’s been doing a fine job but he’s going to have to cook up a miracle the rest of the way. Warner wasn’t just a key piece on defense, but also felt like the heart and soul. For a team with Super Bowl aspirations, overcoming that is going to be a tall task.
NFL Week 9: Line moves and totals swings to know | PFF
San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants Movement: Total 45 → 48.5. There’s been a significant move on the total between the 49ers and Giants, with a 3.5-point adjustment upward from the opening number. The initial move came early in the week, but a public pick release pushed the total even higher — from 47.5 to as high as 49. It has since settled at 48.5, though you can still find an extra half-point in either direction depending on which side you prefer.
