Germany traveled to Greece and played out a tough 0-0 draw that confirms the respective positions of each nation in their Nations League group. Speaking after the game, Florian Wirtz was annoyed that the Germans couldn’t score the damn goal, apart from a Jonathan Burkardt goal that was chalked off for a handball.
“We put a lot of pressure on, but didn’t score the damn goal; that’s annoying,” Wirtz fumed (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “Overall, we can be satisfied with how we played – there
were a lot of good things. We mustn’t forget that we’ve only been together for a week. We really wanted the win, we didn’t – but of course, not everything was bad.”
Germany ends the September-October international break with one win, two draws, and one loss to start off Jürgen Klopp’s tenure as Germany coach. Die Mannschaft will return to action in November with matches away to Serbia and at home to the Netherlands.
