The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced five moves on Wednesday afternoon.
Here’s an overview:
- RB Dameon Pierce was placed on injured reserve.
- RB Jaydon Blue was signed from the practice squad to the active roster.
- OG Evan Beerntsen, WR Quentin Skinner, and DB Shaun Wade were signed to the practice squad.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
DAMEON PIERCE
Pierce suffered an injury during the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Despite this, he led all Eagles running backs in touches on Monday night since Saquon Barkley wasn’t healthy enough to take his normal workload.
This development means that the Eagles’ second (Tank Bigsby), third (Will Shipley), and fourth (Pierce) backfield
options are all now on injured reserve. The Eagles’ fifth option (Carson Steele) was recently waived from IR with an injury settlement.
And Barkley seemingly still remains less than 100%.
All of this is to say that the Eagles are REALLY banged up at running back this season. Bad luck there.
Making matters worse is that the Eagles haven’t exactly had good run blocking for most of this season.
The extent of Pierce’s injury is currently unclear as of me typing this sentence. At the very least, he will be required to miss four games.
Bigsby is eligible to return to the active roster after Week 8. It’s Week 9 for Shipley.
JAYDON BLUE
The Eagles previously called up Blue, a former Dallas Cowboys draft pick, from the practice squad to their roster on October 22. He suited up for their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers but did not play a snap. The Eagles then waived him and brought him back on the practice squad.
With Pierce going on IR and Barkley still banged up, the Eagles needed to add another RB to their roster. Blue is seemingly in line to have a role against the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
EVAN BEERNTSEN
The Eagles recently brought Beerntsen, who played right guard at South Dakota State and Northwestern, to Philly for a visit.
The 26-year-old rookie was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens with a seventh-round pick (No. 253 overall, the fifth-to-last selection) in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Ravens cut him in late August and then he spent some time on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad before they also cut him.
Now in Philly, Beerntsen will help to provide some more interior offensive line depth.
Pre-draft scouting report via NFL.com:
Beerntsen has consistent run blocking tape but a lack of length that could get spell trouble in the NFL. He has 51 career starts under his belt, but he’ll be an older rookie after seven college seasons. He makes smart use of his angles and is stout at the point of attack, consistently straining to neutralize big men in front of him. He can be outreached in protection or have his punch wiped away, though. There are inconsistencies with patching up his edges against twists. Beerntsen is tough, but he might need a move to center to boost his roster potential.

QUENTIN SKINNER
The 6’5”, 195 pound Skinner played college football for Kansas before going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft. He signed with the New York Jets and spent his rookie season on their practice squad, eventually getting temporarily elevated to their roster for one game. He played 16 snaps and logged one target for a 10-yard reception and a first down. Efficient!
The Jets waived Skinner earlier this offseason, which led to him being claimed by the Buffalo Bills. But then they cut him after training camp.
With DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and Britain Covey currently banged, the Eagles were in need of some more receiver depth. Now they’re getting a look at Skinner and his steamed hams.
SHAUN WADE
Shaun Wade is back!
The peanut punching preseason standout is back in Philly after previously spending a multi-week stint on the Eagles’ practice squad earlier this season.
He provides more cornerback depth.
