Bayern Munich have done a good job of retaining a lot their talented players in the last few years, but not everybody is going to stay. According to Florian Plettenberg, center back Robert Deziel Jr is one of those players, as he has secured a move to Poland’s top club:
Robert Deziel Jr. to Legia Warsaw – DONE DEAL.
Full agreement reached. Medical completed. Contract until 2030. 20 y/o talented centre-back joins on a free transfer from FC Bayern II. Fredi Bobic convinced him to move to Poland through
several talks.
BFW Analysis
The America-Italy dual citizen has not been shy about branching out and moving to different countries. In fact, Deziel Jr.’s consistent willingness to tackle new challenges has been very admirable. After moving to Madrid with his parents at the age of 9, he managed to make it into Real Madrid’s academy. He spent two years at the club before he was let go. Far from willing to give up, he moved to Vigo to join Celta Vigo’s academy.
But, even then, he was always looking for the next step. At 15, he desired to move to Germany to take the next step and eventually won a trial and a subsequent move to Munich. There, he rose through the ranks, eventually graduating from the U-19s to earn a two-year loan to Berlin club Aglienicke in the fourth division of German football. He struggled with injuries, though, ultimately failing to impress and returned in 2025 with a departure seeming imminent.
But fate smiled upon Deziel Jr. Big injuries to U-23 center backs Roko Mijatović, Ljubo Puljić and Steve Breitkreuz saw the Bavarians’ reserve team in need of center backs. Deziel Jr was given the chance for the U-23s and never looked back, securing himself a regular spot in the starting lineup and becoming one of the few positive surprises of the season with his solid performances at the back. He even scored 4 goals.
Ultimately, this will not serve to benefit Bayern much. But these strong performances did, if the report is to be believed, help Deziel secure a move to Poland’s most successful club as his journey around Europe continues. Good for him.
