LSU volleyball dropped both games they played in the 2026 Allstate Big Ten/SEC Challenge Week earlier this week. The Tigers lost to Michigan State 3-0 on Tuesday and lost 3-1 to Michigan on Wednesday, dropping their overall record to 2-2.
Against Michigan State, LSU lost in straight sets 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19. The team hit .047 to MSU’s .161, neither of which are good, but LSU’s 11 service errors hurt tremendously. I got the chance to watch some of this match since it was televised, and the Spartans
had LSU’s number throughout. Outside hitter Jurnee Robinson led the team with 15 kills, setter Lauren Brooks led the team with 14 assists, and libero Kiley Brooks led the team with nine digs.
Against Michigan, LSU lost each of the first two sets 25-20 before bouncing back with a 25-23 set three win. They lost set four 25-21 after allowing a game-clinching 7-0 run. The Wolverines outhit the Tigers .288 to .238, a figure hurt most by their .054 hitting percentage in set 2. Nine more service errors for the Tigers didn’t help matters, especially when compared to Michigan’s nine aces. The last two aces for Michigan sealed the match. Robinson led the team with 25.5 points and 21 kills. Setter Takyla Brown led the team in assists with 36, and Brooks led the team in digs again with a season-high 17.
LSU drops to 2-1 all-time against Michigan State and 2-6 all-time against Michigan. The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the PMAC for a match against NC State as part of the SEC/ACC Showdown at the Net.
