The Cincinnati Bengals are getting ready for their second of three preseason games, which will be Saturday night in Paycor Stadium against the Chicago Bears.
Zac Taylor addressed the media on Thursday and was asked about key players dealing with injuries, including safety Bryan Cook, defensive end Shemar Stewart, and cornerback Dax Hill.
“They’re progressing,” Taylor stated. “They started running a little bit more on the side of the rehab field, so I won’t put a timeline on it. But encouraged by the progress they’re
making. I think everything’s been encouraging for the guys. They got hurt early in camp for us. There’s been no setbacks or anything. So I’ll stay away from the timelines.
“But been encouraged by everything I’ve seen from all those guys so far.”
The Bengals went all in on defense this offseason to finally pair their elite offense with a defense capable of putting them back in the playoffs. Cook, who was signed in free agency, Stewart, and Hill are all a big part of that plan. Hopefully they’re all ready to go by the opening kickoff in Week 1.
The Bengals won’t be playing any starters on Saturday, so we wouldn’t be missing Cook, Stewart, or Hill either way. We will be able to get a good look at guys behind them on the depth chart, though.
