On paper, Bayern Munich’s attacking group heading into the 2026/27 season looks both exciting and a little risky.
The projected starting quartet of Harry Kane, Luis Díaz, Michael Olise, and Jamal Musiala is about as talented as any frontline in Europe. Kane remains one of the world’s most complete strikers, Olise has developed into an elite creator and scorer, Díaz brings relentless pace and directness from the left, and Musiala is capable of unlocking any defense with his creativity. If all four
stay healthy, Bayern Munich should have enough firepower to compete for every trophy available. The club’s first-choice attack is difficult to criticize.
The bigger question is what happens behind those stars.
The projected reserve group consists of Arijon Ibrahimović, Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry, and, at least initially, new signing Ismael Saibari. That is an intriguing mix of youth, experience, and versatility, but there are also legitimate question marks.
Gnabry has the pedigree to start for almost any club when healthy, yet injuries and inconsistency have made it difficult to rely on him over a full campaign. Ibrahimović and Karl are talented prospects who appear ready for larger roles, but asking either to consistently deliver in Bundesliga and Champions League matches is a significant leap. Meanwhile, Saibari arrives with plenty of momentum after starring for PSV and Morocco, though he will still need time to adapt to Bayern Munich’s expectations and Vincent Kompany’s system.
There is also the issue of depth. Eight attacking players sounds like plenty, but injuries, fixture congestion, and international duty can quickly test any squad. One or two long-term absences could force Bayern Munich to lean heavily on young players before they are fully established.
So where do you stand?
Does this combination of elite starters and promising backups give you confidence that Bayern Munich has enough attacking depth to challenge for the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League? Or would you still like to see the club add one more proven attacking option before the transfer window closes?
