The New England Patriots lost a member of their starting lineup on the opening drive of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Left guard Jared Wilson remained down with what was later announced
as an ankle injury.
He is officially questionable to return to the Week 12 contest.
Wilson was banged up on a 3rd-and-1 conversion on a run by teammate TreVeyon Henderson. He did walk off under his own power but with a noticeable limp, heading straight to the blue medical tent on the sidelines. From there, he exited to the locker room on a cart.
With Wilson unavailable, the Patriots inserted Ben Brown into the lineup. A former rookie free agent, who arrived in New England last season, Brown had previously started the Patriots’ Week 4 game against the Carolina Panthers in place of an injured Wilson.
Wilson joined the Patriots as a third-round selection in this year’s draft. He beat out Brown and other candidates to win the starting left guard job in training camp and has not looked back since. With the exception of that aforementioned game versus Carolina, he has been a mainstay along New England’s O-line this year.
