According to Football Rankings (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the German national team secured a Pot 1 position for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group Stage draw by virtue of its 6-0 victory over Slovakia.
It
has not always been easy for the Germans under Julian Nagelsmann, but from halftime of the Luxembourg match on Friday onward, things just seems to have clicked for the Germans. Nagelsmann’s squad was overwhelming against a Slovakia team that had just handed Germany a 2-0 defeat back on September 4th.
Improvements like that will be needed as the team prepares for the World Cup. The recent success should help lay the foundation for the World Cup squad. If Nagelsmann can nail down his formation, what positions players will man, and his starters in the coming months, he could — potentially — resist his urges to tinker.
In and of itself, that would be a success.
