There is a new No, 1 in the women’s Other Top 25 for the first time this season. Princeton has moved pasted Richmond for the top spot.
The Tigers are 9-1 this season with the lone loss coming to then-No.
9 Maryland back on Nov. 16. Five of their nine wins have come over teams from power conferences: Georgia Tech, Villanova, Penn St., DePaul and Seton Hall. They also have wins over Rice, Rhode Island and Belmont. Each of those three teams are ranked in this week’s poll.
Carla Berube’s team sits 29th in the NET and 39th in BartTorvik. It is 15th in adjusted offensive efficiency, according to Torvik.
Richmond slid back one spot as it suffered its first lost to a team not ranked in the top 10 of the AP poll. The Spiders fell to Fairfield 93-73. They are 37th in the NET and 43rd in Torvik.
Speaking of those Stags, they came in this week at No. 4. They went 1-1 this week by suffering a three-point loss at Howard before claiming that win at Richmond. Carly Thibault-DuDonis’ squad ranks 38th in Torvik and 48th in the NET.
South Dakota St. is just ahead of Fairfield at No. 3. The Jackrabbits are up to 8-2 following two wins in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge. They have scored at least 78 points in all but one of their wins. SDSU is 44th in the NET and 48th in Torvik.
Davidson moved up one spot to join the top five. The Wildcats are 7-3 and have won their last three games, highlighted by an 77-65 win over Ball St., who is also ranked in Other Top 25. Gayle Fulks’ group sits 47th in the NET and 49th in Torvik.
Two teams joined the ranking this week: Vermont at No. 24 and UC Irvine at No. 25. They replaced UTSA and Green Bay.
