According to a report from Bild journalists Julian Agardi and Michel Schröer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Vincent Kompany is making sure Bayern Munich players have no excuses when it comes to being fully prepared for matchday.
Kompany has implemented a “48-hour rule” at Bayern Munich. First-team players are not permitted to leave the city of Munich during the 48 hours before a competitive match, and under no circumstances are they allowed to take long-distance trips. The rule applies even when a player is scheduled
to have a day off from training.
The reasoning is straightforward — once the 48-hour window begins, the focus is entirely on the next match.
For Kompany, preparation is not limited to what happens on the training pitch. Rest, recovery, travel and routine are all part of making sure the squad arrives at the stadium in the best possible condition.
It is also an interesting indication of the standards Kompany wants to establish at Bayern Munich. A day off does not necessarily mean players are free to do whatever they want. The expectation is that they remain in Munich, avoid unnecessary travel and prioritize their physical and mental preparation.
With Bayern Munich competing on multiple fronts again this season, Kompany will need his squad ready to perform consistently through a demanding schedule.
It may seem strict, but the message is clear: when matchday is approaching, everything else takes a back seat.
