Anyone can shout out into the void and get scorching hot takes from social media, but we hit the streets to find some (not totally verbose) Arsenal fans to try and lay out who they would rather face in the Champions League finale — Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain?
The responses might not surprise you.
“I really have no preference,” said one American Arsenal fan. We could not discern whether that was a good thing or bad thing (as is sometimes the case with a text message). Did he have no preference because
he thought Arsenal would win against either club…or no preference because Arsenal would lose to either team?
Rather than press the fan, we wanted to leave it so that it would forever remain a mystery.
We moved on from our American Arsenal fan and hit the Great White North for a supporter, who — against normal Canadian hospitality — took aim at Bayern Munich.
“Bayern Munich, your defense is worse,” said this very terse Canadian fellow (Editor’s Note: Yeah, we changed “defence” to “defense”…get that UK English outta here, Canuck!).
That was damn near a German response with how direct it was.
Anyway, we went back to the well one more time and had to dig deep to find an Arsenal supporter from the great state of Maryland, who found Bayern Munich as a bigger threat.
“This is tough because both teams are so good. PSG scares with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, and Désiré Doué, but Harry Kane has been unreal this year and I think that is who scares me the most,” said the fan. “I think Arsenal wins either way, but Bayern looks like the tougher game for us.”
There you have it. A small sample size for sure, but Gooners everywhere will likely be tuning in to the match to help form their own opinions.
