Song Yadong vs. Deiveson Figueiredo squared off in a Bantamweight bout earlier this morning (Sat., May 30, 2026) at UFC Macau inside Galaxy Arena in Macau, China. As China’s last hope for a UFC victory, Yadong pulled through with a slick submission.
Outside of some low kicks and one Yadong right hand, the first half of the opening round was largely a staring contest. Neither man was overly eager to engage as they stayed coil and ready to counter. “Figgy” opened up a bit in the second half of the first,
firing a hard body kick and then bursting into a right hand of his own. After Yadong stuffed a couple of his takedowns, Figueiredo managed to gain top position anyway when the Chinese fighter slipped throwing a high kick.
The pace heated up in the second. Yadong began to find the timing on his right hand, which allowed him to pressure more effectively. With Figueiredo’s back to the fence, Yadong was able to find more right hands, as well as a couple crushing calf kicks. He also started jabbing more, which opened up his offense further.
As Yadong landed more, Figueiredo continued to try to time his reactive double leg takedown. When it finally landed, Figueiredo fell right into a closed guard guillotine! That’s a signature technique of the Brazilian, but he was quickly forced to tap as Yadong applied a serious squeeze.
Slow start aside, this was great work from Yadong! He looked really sharp in round two. As soon as he opened up, he was landing hard strikes and making Figueiredo uncomfortable. He forced that takedown attempt then countered beautifully with the guillotine — just his second UFC submission win after his 2017 debut!
Now back in the win column, Yadong has defended his Top Five position and is right back in the Bantamweight title mix.
Result: Yadong defeats Figueiredo via second-round guillotine
