Bayern Munich star midfielder Joshua Kimmich was unhappy with the performance of the team over the course of his two games for Germany.
Of course, a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands and a 1-0 loss to Greece can have that effect.
Kimmich actually wants to stay for the final two games of this international break, but will head back to Säbener Straße not feeling great about the team performance or his individual showing.
“It’s difficult [to leave]. I would have liked to stay, but I also understand that the
coach wants to get to know some of the other guys. The plan from the outset was for us to rotate. So, I’ll be cheering the boys on from home. I was hoping right up until the end that I would be able to stay,” Kimmich said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Germany’s tough start under Jürgen Klopp seems to have a lot of people — including fans — on edge. However, many of the players called for this break could ultimately find themselves out of the mix for a while or for good depending on how things develop in the coming months.
For now, though, Kimmich will have to carry the bitter taste of defeat in his mouth back to Bayern Munich, where he will hopefully experience a few wins soon enough.
