Let’s assume you have access to a magic button.
Press it, and one Juventus player has the kind of World Cup people will talk about years later. Maybe it’s a breakout performance. Maybe it’s a Golden Ball-caliber tournament. Maybe it’s a run to the final that elevates his reputation around the world.
Whatever version you prefer, the result is the same: one Juventus player comes out of this summer looking dramatically better than he did going in.
The catch?
You only get to pick one.
At first glance, the
answer feels obvious. Pick the club’s best player. Pick the player most likely to help Juventus next season. Pick the player you enjoy watching the most.
But I don’t think it’s quite that simple.
A great World Cup doesn’t have the same impact for every player.
For a younger player, it could be the kind of tournament that accelerates his development and changes how supporters view his future. For a more established player, it could reinforce his status as one of the club’s most important pieces. For a player whose future feels uncertain, it could completely alter the conversation around what happens next.
You could even argue that the ideal choice isn’t the player who would benefit the most personally, but the player whose success would provide the biggest boost to Juventus as a whole.
And that’s where this gets interesting.
I can already think of several different answers, and I don’t think any of them are necessarily wrong. Depending on how you’re approaching the question, you could make a pretty convincing case for a young player, a veteran player, or someone whose name seems to appear in transfer rumors every other day.
So let’s hear it. The Juventus Question of the Day is: If you could guarantee one Juve player has a great World Cup, who would it be and why?
