We are just three weeks away from Barcelona’s home opener in the 2025-26 La Liga season, a match that was supposed to be played at the partially renovated Camp Nou, and the club continue to race against the clock to have their home ready in time for that game.
The club had hoped to buy some more time by requesting the league to reverse the calendar and move the Matchday 4 match to Mestalla, home of Valencia, but La Liga has denied Barça’s request according to Cadena COPE.
The Blaugrana must play that
game at home in the weekend of 13-14 September, and despite securing a return to Montjuïc until the end of February 2026, Barça cannot face Valencia at the Olympic Stadium because of a concert taking place that same weekend.
If Camp Nou isn’t ready in time, the two current backup options for the Valencia match are the Estadi Johan Cruyff, who of Barça Femení and Barça Atlètic, or the Montilivi Stadium, home of Barça’s local rivals Girona.
