The good news for the Seattle Seahawks is that Jason Myers is a boss. The bad news is his winning field goal against the Indianapolis Colts may have come at the loss of starting left tackle Charles Cross.
Keen observers noted that Cross was not on the field for victory formation on the game’s final play. Josh Jones, who’d earlier subbed in for an injured Abe Lucas (who eventually returned), was seen at left tackle. That’s because Cross was on special teams handling blocking duties to make sure no one blocked
Myers’ game-deciding kick. While the human body can do incredible things, especially for professional athletes, a 300+ pound offensive lineman probably should not be in a position where he’s doing the splits.
Cross can be seen grabbing his hamstring at the end of the sideline shot of the All-22 clip. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald’s injury update confirmed a hamstring issue for the big man, but he isn’t ruling him out of the Rams game just yet.
Cross has not missed a game all season and the Seahawks have been quite fortunate to only have Jalen Sundell miss any time due to injury along the offensive line. While Josh Jones has looked serviceable as a backup swing tackle, possibly not having your best offensive lineman available against the Rams’ defensive front could be a huge blow to Seattle.
The Seahawks will have a Monday walkthrough with practice estimations. It would be a surprise if Cross was listed as anything better than limited, and most likely he’d be a hypothetical DNP.
