The No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes rolled past a reeling Wisconsin Badger team in Madison to move to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten.
Here are some grades from the Buckeyes’ dominant win heading into the bye week.
A+: Julian Sayin
Not only does Julian Sayin get better each week, but he looks more comfortable and more like the best quarterback in the country with each start.
Sayin recorded his best game as a Buckeye this week, going 36-for-42 for 394 yards and four touchdowns. He started the game off with an elite throw
to Carnell Tate for a touchdown, and finished the game off with an elite throw to Brandon Inniss for a touchdown.
We can officially start the Sayin for Heisman campaign.
His counterparts from Wisconsin — Hunter Simmons and Danny O’Neil — combined to go 7-for-15 for 49 yards and an interception. That isn’t important, but I really wanted to mention it.
A+: The first and last touchdown
I was going to put the opening drive and the first touchdown together, but I wanted to get Brandon Inniss some love in this article for his touchdown.
The scoring started with an elite pass and catch and ended with an elite pass and catch. Sayin’s ball placement is truly incredible to watch.
A: The opening drive
Ryan Day and Brian Hartline threw the ball the first five plays of the game, and very clearly were making an effort to jump on the Badgers early in the game. In the end, the result was one of the best pass and catches of the year from Sayin to Carnell Tate.
A: The freshman running backs and Quincy Porter
Bo Jackson has already earned his spot as the starting running back, but the more I see from Isaiah West, the more I think he may be the RB2. I am not fully there yet, but I am close.
Quincy Porter is going to be another great one as well. It is not his time yet, but it is coming…
C: The right side of the offensive line
Josh Padilla needs to see the field more, because Tegra Tshabola probably needs to field less.
I am not a huge PFF guy in general, but this time it showed what we are all seeing. Tshabola was the worst-graded player on the entire offense with a 45.1 grade, and Daniels was second-worst with a 51.7 mark. They also allowed the only sack of the game.
Padilla, however, graded out the second-best lineman. Let’s move some things around and see what we have during the off week.
D-: Special teams
Unfortunately, the special teams are going to keep making this list until something good happens, and so far bad things keep happening.
The Buckeyes still don’t flip the field on punts, they make bad decisions fielding punts, Jayden Fielding missed his first kick on the road in his career and they allowed a punter to break a tackle and run for 20 yards.
I will say it until I am blue in the face at this point: The special teams are bad, and it will affect the team when the competition gets better.
