There were plenty of reports indicating the Eagles were interested in trade if for Dolphins LB Jaelan Phillips ahead of the deadline, and Howie Roseman was able to make it happen early Monday morning.
The Eagles have acquired Jaelan Phillips in exchange for a third-round pick in 2026, with the Dolphins also picking up a portion of his remaining salary.
Phillips will be a good addition to a thin edge rushing room for the Eagles, and he’ll reunite with DC Vic Fangio. That familiarity should help him transition quickly and contribute sooner rather than later.
Heading into their Week 9 bye, the Eagles had just three healthy edge rushers — Jalyx Hunt, Patrick Johnson, and Joshua Uche — and rookie Jihaad Campbell had taken some snaps on the edge with the return of Nakobe Dean.
Phillips played in nine games for Miami this season, recording 25 total tackles, 7 QB hits, 3.0 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
The Eagles hope to get Nolan Smith back from IR soon, and Brandon Graham should be acclimated enough to get back in the rotation in Week 10. Phillips joining the group should at the minimum give them some competent depth, but he could be a big contributor, too.
