Happy Sunday Husky fans. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and you are enjoying the end to your 2025. After inking a top 25 class earlier this month the Husky staff have turned their attention to the portal and the 2027 class. In the 2027 class they have already landed two of the top in-state players in 4 star wide receiver Braylon Pope from Sumner, and 3 star defensive back Maurice Williams from Graham-Kapowsin. 247sports has the class rated as a top 25 class already and I would be surprised
if it didn’t finish significantly higher than that.
The Huskies have already offered over 167 players in the 2027 class and here are a look at some local players to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks and months (note: there are other players who the Huskies are after but these are 2 of the bigger priorities for the dawgs locally):
4 star quarterback Sione Kaho from Lincoln HS, WA is one of the top quarterbacks on the Huskies board in the 2027 class. Kaho, who is listed at 6’2” and around 205 pounds, is one of the top quarterbacks out west in the 2027 class. The Huskies have been recruiting Kaho for a long time and are battling Stanford, and Oregon for his commitment. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him make a decision sometime early in 2026 and join the Husky class.
4 star defensive lineman Tevita Nonu from O’Dea HS, WA is the top prospect in the state in the 2027 class and probably one of the highest priority players for the Huskies in the 2027 class. Listed at 6’4” and around 270 pounds, Nonu has a good frame already and is a very active defensive tackle. The Huskies have landed the top in-state player in the last two recruiting classes and there is no reason to think that they won’t make it three in a row with Nonu (they are battling Notre Dame, Cal, and ASU currently).
From out of state the Huskies are doing well with several players but here are a couple of players that could pop in early 2027 heading into the spring for the Huskies:
4 star safety Isala Aisa Wily-Ava has been a priority target for the Huskies for a while now. Safeties coach Taylor Mays has been leading the charge with Wily-Ava and sees him as a big framed safety that can disrupt offenses with his physicalness. The Husky staff are battling lots of top programs for him right now, including Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, and Texas A&M. The Husky staff were one of the first staffs to offer him in 2024 and the strong bond he has with Coach Mays will likely go a long way with the Huskies.
4 star edge Troy Bowens from Sutter HS, CA is one of the top prospects on the Huskies board in the 2027 class. Bowens, who is rated as the 22nd best edge in the country, visited UW for a game earlier this season and was very impressed by the Husky program. I suspect that the Huskies will heavily pursue Bowens and try to get him on campus for their Junior day in early 2026.
3 star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell from Valor Christian HS, CO has been a frequent visitor to Montlake over the last year. The Huskies have been heavily after Russell for a while and view him as a potential dominant interior lineman for them. Russell has stated that both Nebraska and UW are at the forefront of his recruitment now and the Huskies likely hold the advantage with how long they have pushed for him (as well as Nebraska firing their offensive line coach and replacing him).
Last year the Huskies hosted their Junior day in March and I would anticipate the Huskies having a plethora of their top targets from around the country on campus to check out the program. There will likely be a large contingent in-state but also coming from California (they have extended 59 offers in California already and last cycle they signed 7 players from the state and I would anticipate a similar number if not higher in 2027). That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp for recruiting news.
