Full-time WWE star Logan Paul made some headlines at the Super Bowl for saying he wasn’t excited to see Bad Bunny’s performance during the halftime show. Logan later surprised some folks by pushing back on his brother Jake’s moronic claim that the Puerto Rican mega star is a “fake American citizen.”
Plenty of wrestling fans want to know if the YouTube douchebag is angling for a WWE match against Bunny at a big stadium show like WrestleMania. In a new interview with The Takedown on SI, the Logan boldly
stated it would be the biggest wrestling match of all-time.
“I’m not setting the table [for a match against Bad Bunny]. I don’t know. Look, the thing about him is he’s a busy guy. He’s a very busy guy. I don’t know. I don’t know what is on his agenda. I would like to, I would. I would like to make it happen.
…If Bad Bunny versus Logan Paul happened, I have no doubt it would be the biggest wrestling match of all time. Like, hands down, without question, that match extends so far beyond the WWE Universe. It breaks all barriers of what people think wrestling is. You have the opportunity to capture a global audience in one match.
The guy is talented. The guy is so talented. (He’s) the definition of a superstar, whether it’s performing at a big game halftime show, or actually even wrestling. Now that said, I’ve got some experience under my belt. I don’t see how he’s going to be able to stand my pressure and my athleticism and strength, but if it happens, that’s a big money match. That’s a big money match I know the whole world would tune in for and I think it would be a real good one.”
For what it’s worth, Logan downplayed his comments about not being excited for Bad’s Super Bowl concert by saying he can’t remember the last time he was excited for any halftime show; he’s just too damn busy working and mingling with others to pay much attention to the game.
Describing Logan Paul vs. Bad Bunny as “the biggest wrestling match of all time” is hyperbole, of course, but I do think there is some merit to the notion that it’s the biggest match WWE might be able to book this year. Logan is absolutely right that there would be a tremendous amount of fan interest and intrigue for this one if all parties involved can come to terms and make it happen in WWE.
After CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns was announced as the main event of WrestleMania 42, a friend asked me what’s the biggest Cody Rhodes match that can be booked in the main event of the other night of WrestleMania. Maybe it’s a douche move of my own to drop Cody from the equation, but I immediately blurted out “Bad Bunny vs. Logan Paul.”
I don’t know if Bunny has any interest in the match, or availability to do it as soon as WrestleMania 42, but that sounds like one very good way to address those sluggish ticket sales for WWE’s biggest event of the year.
Do you think Bad Bunny vs. Logan Paul happens at some point in WWE, and possibly at WrestleMania 42? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
