Maycon Cardozo started the 2025/26 season as part of Bayern Munich’s U-19s. He ended it having been promoted to the U-23s and playing twice for the Bavarians’ senior team. This dramatic growth was, in part, due to the 17-year-old’s relentless energy and work ethic he showed when invited to train with the senior team, one he elaborated on in an interview:
“I was very focused because it was a chance to show [head coach Vincent] Kompany and the players that I was ready and that I wanted to stay in the first
team,” Cardozo explained to Brazilian news portal ge.globo (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “So, from the first training session, every day, I always gave my best, and if I can give even more, I do, because to be there, you have to work very hard.”
Cardozo adopted the same focused mentality on his debut: “When I walked over to the coach, he just said, ‘do what you do in training.’ So I was very happy, I came in feeling very relaxed, wanting to play, wanting to show everyone who Maycon is.”
This kind of attitude will bring him far.
