We all have opinions about which positions the San Francisco 49ers should draft two weeks from now. Some believe specific prospects fit the best, while others will swear by certain players. Everybody has their draft crushes. Today, we’ll share those.
To be clear, this does not mean the best players at their positions. For example, at safety, I am intrigued by A.J. Haulcy from LSU and Zakee Wheatley from Penn State. Both players will be drafted somewhere between the second and third rounds. Haulcy screams
like the ballhawking safety Raheem Morris would covet, while Wheatley is the jack-of-all-trades kind of safety who could be a plug-and-play starter for any defense. Will they turn out to be stars? Who knows? But those are my draft crushes at safety.
Here’s my all-draft crush team:
QB: Garrett Nussmeier
RB: Emmett Johnson
WR: Chris Bell
WR: De’Zhaun Stibling
TE: Eli Stowers
OT: Monroe Freeling
IOL: Beau Stephens
EDGE: Joshua Josephs
DT: Caleb Banks
LB: Jake Golday
CB: Keith Abney
S: A.J. Haulcy
I’m a big proponent of variance in sports. As you can see, the ceiling for some of these players is sky-high, while the floor would get you fired. Others, like Stephens and Josephs, are players I could see contributing in the NFL for multiple contracts.
