Kentucky basketball has extended another scholarship offer to a player in the 2027 recruiting class, making four-star center Akol Nyok the 23rd prospect in the class to receive an offer from the Wildcats.
According to Jamie Shaw of Rivals, Kentucky offered Nyok on Wednesday. Nyok is a 7-foot-1, 205-pound center who plays for Miami Columbus in Miami, Florida. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Nyok is ranked No. 115 nationally, No. 15 among centers and No. 23 overall in the state of Florida.
Nyok
has nearly 20 scholarship offers, including Georgia, Maryland, Michigan State and Marquette, among others. His recruitment is beginning to pick up significant attention as more high-major programs evaluate the talented big man.
Adam Finkelstein of 247 Sports describes Nyok as extremely mobile for his size and believes he has the tools to become a successful defender. Finkelstein has described Nyok as running the floor “like a gazelle,” and the 7-foot-1 center averaged 1.6 blocks per game during PRO16 play.
The biggest areas of concern for Nyok are his strength and his ability to consistently use his hands. He remains very lean for his size and will need to continue developing his frame while also proving that he can stay healthy and durable.
The bottom line is that Nyok needs time to build up his frame and improve his hands. Another concern is his injury history, as he dealt with injuries last season while playing at Miami Columbus, the same high school that produced Cam and Cayden Boozer.
Kentucky will now have to determine how seriously they want to pursue Nyok as the 2027 recruiting cycle continues. It remains to be seen whether the Wildcats will push for a visit, but with the offer now extended, Nyok is officially another name to watch in Kentucky’s 2027 recruiting efforts.
