The below image is the kickoff to the future of the Las Vegas Raiders and it will define the Tom Brady-John Spytek era.
It was a week after the Raiders parted ways with coach Pete Carroll, ending the one-year Carroll-Spytek era and the Raiders’ brass went to Miami to watch quarterback
Fernando Mendoza lead Indiana to its first-ever national championship, likely cementing the Heisman Trophy winner as the first overall pick in the April draft.
The fact that the Raiders are in position to draft Mendoza, reportedly played a big role in the Raiders luring Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their new head coach. Kubiak, who played a key role in Seattle’s Super Bowl championship season, is considered one of the head-coaching prizes in this cycle.
Now, the hope in Las Vegas will be that their two new champions can finally turn the Raiders into a contender for the long haul. There is reason for hope for this franchise.
And it will define the Brady-Spytek era.
Let’s face it; it was a rough first full year for the two former Michigan teammates. Brady’s role as a decision maker has been a little rough from the hiring of Carroll to the quarterback decision in 2025. Spytek didn’t get a ton from his first free-agent and draft classes.
They have to hit the Kubiak and Mendoza choices. If so, the Raiders will be on their way. If Kubiak ends up being another good OC, bad head coach and Mendoza is just average, Spytek will probably pay for it with his job.
Brady isn’t going anywhere, but his reputation as a decision maker will take a big hit. So, there is much at stake for these two as they take this huge step for the team’s future.
