When a Bayern Munich fan reads a headline with Uli Hoeness, they mentally prepare themselves for the worst. After all, Uli could have said anything about anything.
Bayern won the DFB Pokal after six long years, courtesy of a hat-trick by Harry Kane. The English striker led his side to a 3-0 win against defending Pokal champions VfB Stuttgart. He has been one of the most important players in this Bayern side and his efforts have played a major role in Bayern’s successes this season.
Following the win,
Uli Hoeness spoke to Das Erste about Kane (as transcribed by @iMiaSanMia). The Ehrenpräsident opened with a rather expositional statement — “Harry Kane is the best transfer we’ve ever made,” he declared.
He was then told that FC Barcelona were interested in purchasing the star, to which he replied, making his stance very clear. “FC Bayern is a buying club not a selling club,” he stated.
When asked to confirm whether Kane was sure to stay, Hoeness replied in a way only he could.
“Yes, and Barcelona have no money anyway.”
Ouch. The honorary president strikes again.
