While making notes for this week’s episode of WWE Main Event, I came across a video of NXT star Layla Diggs promoting the virtues of the library as part of May’s Small Business Month.
The 90-second clip was released on YouTube by Orlando’s Orange County Library System and features Diggs, real name Breanna Covington, explaining how the library made a difference in her life and wrestling career.
“The library has saved me money, but it’s also given me a passion and a new hobby and a newfound love,” said
Diggs, as she revealed she had a hard time finding clothing and gear that fit right.
Initially, the self-proclaimed “Ms. Everything” tried learning to sew but grew frustrated and put her sewing machine away for a year. She then considered hiring a teacher, but the cost proved to be an obstacle.
“I realized that’s going to be expensive and the library is free. So I was like, why not just go learn there?” Diggs said, adding that her new skill helped boost her confidence as her shiny robes make her “look like a star” without breaking the bank.
With or without flashy ring gear, Diggs, a three-year pro, looked every bit the star as she and her partner, Kali Armstrong, had an impressive performance against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria on WWE’s Thursday night program. The match and full show are available to stream now on YouTube.
