One of the greatest Indiana wide receivers in recent memory is off to the NFL.
Omar Cooper Jr., the Hoosiers’ leader in receptions and receiving yards during their 2025 national championship run, is declaring
for the 2026 NFL Draft, he posted on social media. He was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2022 out of Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis and spent all four seasons of his college career with Indiana, redshirting as a freshman in 2022 before steadily rising as a contributor in the ensuing seasons. He had one season of eligibility remaining.
Cooper Jr. finished the 2025 season with 69 receptions, 937 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns, finishing just behind Elijah Sarratt’s 15 in the latter category. He helped save Indiana’s undefeated season with an improbable touchdown reception in the back of the endzone in the last minute on the road against Penn State, a catch later lauded as the best of the season in all off college football.
