Indiana men’s basketball has won five of its last six games, putting itself in solid position to hear its name called on Selection Sunday next month.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi agrees. He has the Hoosiers staying put as a No. 9-seed in the East region in his latest projection posted on Tuesday morning. Right now, he’d have Indiana matching up with No. 8-seed Villanova in Greenville, South Carolina, for the chance to take on the winner of No. 1-seed Duke and No. 16-seed UT Martin.
Indiana’s seedline is unchanged
from his previous projection, but the destination and opponent has changed. The Hoosiers could help themselves by avoiding bad losses down the stretch while remaining competitive, or even beating, the likes of Illinois, Purdue and Michigan State.
The Hoosiers’ former non-conference opponents are improving their resumes with time as Louisville sits as a No. 6-seed and Kentucky sits as a No. 7-seed. Indiana’s best wins are No. 3-seed Purdue, No. 10-seed UCLA and No. 9-seed Wisconsin.
