England captain Harry Kane had praise for team-mate Anthony Gordon after the Barcelona forward scored in Tuesday’s win over Czechia.
Gordon was also on target for England against Spain at the weekend, and Kane thinks the move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window has given the forward a boost.
“I think sometimes going to a big club like that gives you more self-belief, more confidence,” he told reporters.
“You feel like you belong on the biggest stage and I think he’s taken that into his England
performances.
“He was outstanding against Spain on Saturday, again today he was the difference maker. He was always looking to be direct and be the one to get us ahead and a great finish from him as well.
“A lovely ball by Trent, but those finishes aren’t easy and he took it really well.”
Gordon has actually scored in each of his last three games for England and will hope to maintain that run on Saturday night against Croatia in Rijeka.
