Outgoing AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and possibly outgoing Fulham manager Marco Silva appear to be the two primary candidates in the (supposedly) early stages of Chelsea’s search for our next manager head coach, but a report yesterday (Tuesday) from The Telegraph has also lumped in currently unemployed Xabi Alonso into that preferred group for the first time as well.
Alonso built his coaching reputation at Bayer Leverkusen, and while he lasted barely six months at Real Madrid, he remains
among the most eligible coaches on the market this summer. Whether he’d ever consider dropping down to our level, that’s another question entirely, but apparently he shares representation with Iraola, so we can kill two rejections with one contact. That’s efficiency!
Meanwhile, a report from The Standard adds that our veritable plethora of sporting directors all agree that Silva would be a “top candidate” for the job even though Fulham are confident of getting him to agree to a new contract. Jorge Mendes must be loving this.
But don’t worry, our cacophony of visionary sporting directors will surely make the right choice after an exhaustive, relentless, determined search of all the yes-men out there.
