Rumors for the Day:
- Because of ticket prices, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says John Cena’s retirement match tonight at Capitol One Arena in Washington D.C. is expected to draw “the largest arena sized building gate in the history of pro wrestling,” bringing in “well above $4 million.” High demand on the secondary market indicates that WWE actually underpriced these tickets for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
- PW Insider says several WWE Hall of Famers are expected to be in attendance for Cena’s last match, including Trish Stratus.
- There aren’t currently signs that President Trump or Vince McMahon will be in the building for Cena’s final match, but one source told Insider that “you never know” with McMahon.
- According to Bodyslam.net, WWE is planning to give the SmackDown roster a “boost” for the upcoming change back to a three hour format. WWE is aware that the show “desperately needs help” with talent and creative.
- The Observer was told “there is a zero percent chance” that Chris Jericho will be revealed as the masked mystery man from War Games and Raw.
- Insider says Natalya and Kevin Owens will be featured as coaches on season three of LFG on A&E.
- Fightful Select heard that LA Knight battled through an illness during this week’s episode of Raw.
- The outlet also mentioned that Sarah Stock’s claims about “corruption and negligence” in AEW were a major talking point backstage this week. A source in AEW says some parts of her criticisms are true, such as certain talent not getting picked up at airports. It sounds like some AEW stars have their travel arrangements worked into their contracts. The talent who handle their own travel are reimbursed later.
- F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer says the reason why Tony Khan doesn’t announce too many Continental Classic matches well ahead of time is because each week he needs to find out who is healthy and who is not.
