While his Bayern Munich teammates prepared for the Bundesliga opener, Jamal Musiala continued his rehabilitation with an intense individual training session at Säbener Straße on Friday morning per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia).
Of course, the Bavarians would go on to take down VfB Stuttgart 5-1, so it was a good day all-around for Musiala.
The German international went all out during the session alongside rehab manager Benjamin Sommer, working on a specialized “Sprint 2” machine designed to help players perform
runs and sprints against precisely adjusted resistance.
The machine uses a digitally controlled winch to regulate the resistance during each movement while simultaneously tracking and analyzing the player’s performance. The data was monitored directly on an iPad, allowing Musiala and the rehabilitation staff to closely follow his progress throughout the session.
It was another encouraging step for Musiala as he continued his recovery and worked toward a return to full team training and competitive action. Although he was not yet ready to feature in the Bundesliga opener, his willingness to push himself during the individual session provided another positive indication of his rehabilitation progress.
Serge Gnabry also completed an individual training session at Säbener Straße on Friday morning. However, the timing of the Bundesliga opener came too soon for the experienced winger, meaning he was not available for the match.
There was better news regarding Lennart Karl, however. The highly rated Bayern Munich youngster had recovered sufficiently to return to the squad and played some minutes at the end of the game.
With Musiala and Gnabry continuing their individual work while Karl returned to the squad, Bayern Munich entered the new Bundesliga season with several different developments surrounding the squad’s fitness situation.
