Your Oregon soccer team played host to the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday night, looking to keep the strong start to their season going. The Ducks were the aggressors from the get-go, narrowly getting their shot attempt blocked just 7 minutes into the match. Then in the 26th minute, Abella Hunter had a shot go off the right post, but was being pulled down, so she earned a penalty shot. Ellie Felt would step up to take the PK, and knock it through with ease. In the 36th minute, Logan Russo would convert
from waaaaay downtown, giving the Ducks a 2-0 lead. Then, just 5 minutes later in the 41st minute, Russo would strike again from just outside the inner box, giving Oregon a 3-0 lead to end the half.
The 2nd half would kick off with more of the same, with Cloe Chase converting on a header from inside the box in the 59th minute. Then Ellie Felt would strike again, heading the ball in off a beautiful kick off the foot of Elsie Picard in the 66th minute. Then just 3 minutes later, in minute 69, Savannah Holley would get in on the action by sneaking a kick past the keeper through some traffic, sealing a commanding 6-0 win for the Ducks.
What a win for the Ducks, and a great continuation to the best start the program has had in years. They’ve been very aggressive this season, outshooting their opponents by a combined 97-41, and it’s shown by propelling them to a 4-0-1 record to start the year. Let’s see if they can keep the momentum going.
As always, ‘Sco Ducks.
