Tom Brady posted his top-10 throws of the NFL season and broke down what made each pass so special, including several by Matthew Stafford. In fact, Brady also said that the best throw of his career came against the Rams in the 2021 playoffs, a deep shot bomb to Mike Evans for a touchdown over Jalen Ramsey in the final minutes.
But on Stafford, Brady was effusive in praise for the quarterback — he called his no-look pass to Cooper Kupp in the Super Bowl “one of the best throws in the history of the NFL”
— and Puka Nacua:
“Stafford probably going to win the MVP. Not that I have a vote, but from what I watched him play and have seen him play all year, I think Hall of Fame quarterback having the best season of his career.“
Brady, who is quickly becoming the most interesting analyst in the game with his explanations of how quarterbacks do what they do, breaks down a pass from Stafford to Puka against the Seahawks on the right sideline for a big gain. Brady says that Stafford has “one of the most beautiful deliveries I’ve ever seen”, calling it smooth, compact, and that he’s able to turn his arm into a slingshot.
Later, Brady goes back on another pass from Stafford for his top-10, this time a no-look touchdown. Brady says that Stafford told him that he developed his no-look game in order to disguise his intentions when he needed to pass the ball to Calvin Johnson in Detroit.
Any young folks out there who want to become quarterbacks, listen to Tom Brady and watch Matthew Stafford.
