Sounds like there could be some minor trouble brewing over Alphonso Davies’ new contract at Bayern Munich. The Canadian superstar has been waylaid by an ACL tear suffered in March of this year.
Here’s the
report from Sport Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER:
There are discussions between the player and club sides regarding the continuation of salary payments to Alphonso Davies during his injury. His new contract came into effect on July 1, but he extended it back in February. [Bayern-Insider, @cfbayern, @altobelli13]
While Bayern, according to the old contract, was legally required to pay the full salary for 6 weeks, the new contract provides for continued payment over several months. Therefore, the advisor has contacted Bayern to settle the matter. There is no fixed result yet.
Uh-oh…is there anything here? Hopefully not. But it is common to see stories of clubs doing right by their players in spite of terrible injury circumstances and this does not sound like that.
The excerpt is short on details of what exactly the dispute is over but it would not be getting off the new contract on the right foot if Davies ends up disgruntled or feeling nickel-and-dimed while managing his recovery from an ACL tear. Hopefully, the matter is very easily settled.
