Here we go again. Real Madrid in the Champions League (well, it’s not going to be in the Vanarama Vans Trophy is it?), which seems to have become a staple fixture year in, year out.
City were able to keep a solid defence against Sunderland on Saturday but they may find Real’s forward line slightly different to the newly promoted Black Cats. The Blues go into the match on the back of three successive victories, scoring 11 goals and conceding 7 in the process.
In the Champions League, City suffered a surprise
2-0 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the last round of matches, and now sit outside the automatic qualification spots.
Real have won just three of their last eight matches in all competitions and the pressure is on manager Xabi Alonso to get a result on Wednesday night. Defeat to the Blues, or indeed, anything over than victory could signal the end of his reign in Spain.
As always, our team are here to masterfully predict the future and give you our thoughts on Wednesday’s match. Here’s what we think this week.
Saul
Tough match vs a spiraling team. Will they back their manager and play up to level or spiral even further? I’m leaning latter, give me a refreshed Haaland, Foden and company to steal a win in Madrid. 3-2 City.
Real 2-3 City
Will
Not got a good feeling. City have got good results this last week but the cracks have been there to show – and of course, it is Madrid at the Bernabeu. I can’t back against the Blues to not get a result though.
Real Madrid 2-2 City
Thomas
The lads are off to Spain to face Real Madrid and Pep disciple Xabi Alonso. Los Blancos in the UCL is always a premium match-up. City need to find more consistent form. I think they do just enough to grab a point.
Madrid 2-2 City
Pete
My prediction is that this match will not end 0-0, and if it does, I give up. City’s defence against Real who can’t seem to get a win for love nor money? Yeah we all know how this is ending. Time for a silly prediction.
Real 3-4 City
How we did against Sunderland
Hold the back page, stop the press and drop the dead donkey…Pete picked up extra points this week!!!! Okay, still no spot on prediction, that’s about as likely as a United fan from Manchester. But his 2-1 prediction means he got the right number of goals. Will and Thomas both went for 3-1 and Saul may have forgotten to send.
Here’s the table
