Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we are talking about Mizzou Football.
Drinkwitz sent out a double bat signal this morning signifying that news was probably on the way. It didn’t take long for four-star tight end Jack Brown to become the first Tiger of the day to commit. He became Mizzou’s first four star in the Class of 2027, along with Braylen Warren’s first offensive weapon.
Brown attends Francis Howell Central and tied for the most touchdowns on his team as a junior with six. He’ll look to continue growing as he enters his senior season. Read more in my story here.
A couple hours later, Mizzou added a second four-star, along with a second weapon for Warren in in-state receiver Chris Harris Jr.
Harris is also an in-state talent, reigning from Lee’s Summit West. Despite not having the best season as a team, the 6’1 receiver put up some crazy numbers during his junior season. Read more in my story here.
Eli Drinkwitz had quiet a day on the recruiting trail and with the additions, the class is up to top 20 in the country on major recruiting sources.
We have more discussion on football and basketball, diving into prospects, visits and PFF grades in the Rock M+ forums.

I think it’s fair to say that Mizzou deserved a No. 10 seed, but they certainly were extremely fortunate to draw STL. This is an opportunity Dennis Gates must capitalize on — especially how last season ended in Wichita vs Drake.
What an exciting moment for Mizzou and its fans. Should be some serious home-field advantage at Enterprise Center on Friday.
Brett Norfleet has the hands and talent to be any of these Mackey-winning tight ends. Well, maybe not the 1,000+ yard receivers like Harrison Bailey and Tyler Warren. But certainly a guy who can go for over 500 yards and 8-9 touchdowns. But he needs to be put in a route that’s further down field and allows him to utilize his strengths of being bigger than guys in the defensive secondary and able to bully his way for a few additional yards. Not this absurd thought that he can turn a 3-yard catch right on the sideline into an extra 10 yards of YAC.
Serious upside for Brett Norfleet this season but at the end of the day it all comes back to one thing: quarterback play. Lots of questions still unanswered for Mizzou.
Like Missouri, Miami has no quality Q1 non-conference wins. They did nab a couple non-con wins in Quad 2 with wins at Ole Miss, and a neutral court win over Georgetown. If there’s a flaw in their record it’s the lack of wins over truly good teams.
I think this is one of the reasons that this game is so debated and could go either way. Should be a great matchup and go Tigers.
This is rare for a team of Mizzou’s caliber. Since 2000, only 19 teams seeded No. 9-16 have played their first NCAA Tournament game within two hours of campus.
Once again, this is GREAT! Hoping for a good turnout from the Tigers.
The 6’5, 215 pound tight end is the top-ranked player in Missouri and is a big addition to a newly-sprouted offense. Aside from Brown, on the offensive side of the ball, the Tigers have added a quarterback of the future in Braylen Warren, along with an offensive lineman in Lual Aleu.
The class is growing into a strong future for Mizzou.
According to 247Sports, Harris gained nearly 1,300 scrimmage yards and almost 2,000 all-purpose yards as a junior. He caught 57 passes for 929 yards, while rushing 42 times for 366 yards (15 total TDs).
Dominant stats as a junior. Excited to see how he can continue growing during his senior season at Lee’s Summit West.
Missouri has shown they can beat anybody in the country with wins over Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M, but their inconsistencies throughout the season have provided good reason why they’re the underdog in this one. Meanwhile, Miami (FL) put together a more complete season in Year One under Jai Lucas going 23-8 (13-5 ACC) — earning a spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll at No. 25.
Go place your vote for SBN Reacts!
Even if you’re not going with the overall No. 1 seed, don’t let anybody shame you for picking a top seed to cut down the nets. Since seeding the field began, No. 1 seeds have won more national titles (27) than all other seeds combined (18).
Now more than ever, with NIL, is an OK time to be picking 1 seeds.
Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzou football discussion and basketball discussion with the offseason picking up for football, and March for basketball.
From Rock M Radio: Dive Cuts Live
Missouri men’s basketball accepted their invite to the big dance as the Tigers are seeded 10th in the West Region facing off against the Miami Hurricanes in round one. Sam Snelling and Matthew Harris are back with a brand new live episode of Dive Cuts to talk all things Tigers, as they look to win their first NCAA Tournament game since Dennis Gates’ first season.
